It is an alphabetical list of what is in Step 1: Bring the engine speed up slightly. To ease the transition into second gear, bring the engine speed to roughly 1500-2000 RPM. Without revving the engine up slightly, you'll have a jerky, jarring transition when you let the clutch pedal out. Step 2: Slowly release the clutch pedal. As you lift your foot, you'll feel the slight strain With a manual transmission, the engine's drive shaft is connected to a flywheel and an output shaft is attached to the flywheel. The output shaft is what goes into the transmission, but there's a clutch in between them that allows the driver to disengage the transmission long enough to shift gears. 3) the tensioning spring on the tranny pulley is probably weak so when the harsh jerk happens the belt goes loose a bit so it then slips a bit. 4) the pivot point on the tensioning arm floggs out oval over time cause they never get lubed by home owners who do their own maintenance. Inexperienced drivers with manual transmissions may experience jerky shifting, or engine thrashing if their technique is not smooth. The engine may stop jerking once they become better at shifting gears. Step 2 - Ignition parts, filters, and transmission fluid. Your engine may be jerking because of bad ignition parts like spark plugs or Method 1Using the Clutch. 1. Keep your left foot resting on the clutch at all times. The clutch is the pedal all the way on the left and is what allows you to transition between gears. Knowing how to use the clutch when you change gears is key to driving smoothly when you're operating a manual transmission. Checking the transmission fluid on a Hyundai that has a transmission oil dipstick is very easy. Procedure: Park the vehicle on level ground. Set the parking brakes. Start up the engine, and while parked, move the shifter between all the gears. Turn off the engine and open the hood. Locate the transmission dipstick (not the engine oil dipstick). 878 Posts. #17 · Mar 14, 2014. Well, supposedly it is actually a gear shift from 2nd to 3rd that you are feeling, since the 7G prefers to start in the 2nd. Ling1973 said: Since my transmission flush, and the replacing of the valve body solenoid, it does seem better and smooth for 1st to 2nd gear changes. by advice I meant, about getting the transmission to shift smoothly at low speeds. If you have an automatic, try this 1. drive above 25-30 mph 2. either coast down or brake to under20 mph 3. quickly step on the gas pedal. (don't baby the gas pedal either. really step on it to accelerate fast, not drag racing fast but fast. If you release at too high or too low, it'll be jerky. For what it's worth, it's a little less jerky if you release too soon rather than too late. The idle problem seems almost resolved after cleaning the egr system, but the jerkiness has not changed. The car idles very smoothly, and revs smoothly when parked, but has a definite jerkiness when accelerating or at steady speed. It's a bit d
