With their roots steeped deep in the tradition of the classic 70′s period of conscious reggae, the High Hopes Band (HHB) is considered one of New England’s premiere reggae bands. High Hopes combines influences of roots reggae, dub and R&B into its own style and sound.

High Hopes Band has shared the stage with Ziggy Marley, Maxi Priest, Midnite, Luciano, and Morgan Heritage. At every High Hopes Band performance, audiences are often treated to a wide range of music styles, thanks in part to the band’s influential bassist, Julie Feola, they also keep it grounded in the foundation of their heavy roots sound.

Hailing from St. Croix-US Virgin Island, vocalist & guitarist, Sebastian Franks, with his soulful vibe, creative writing skills, and catchy melodic hooks adds a fresh neo-soul like RnB influence to the band’s already diverse sound. In addition to his role as band member, Franks has played a vital role in developing projects with bands both in the US Virgin Island as well as in the Boston area.

Additionally, guitarist and vocalist Jason Dick has worked with some of the genre’s brightest stars including Fanton Mojah, Yami Bolo, and Judah Eskender Tafari. One of the rocks of High Hopes Band is keyboardist Paddy McDonnell who represents part of the band’s foundation. His old-soul vibe and quality adds a unique style that runs throughout many of the songs created by High Hopes.

The newest addition to High Hopes Band is Drummer A.J. Maynard. A.J. grew up in a musical household and has been playing in front of audiences from a very young age. A.J. brings a wide array of musical influences to the band that can be heard in his playing. A traditional drummer, the band’s percussionist, Papa Zekes, rounds out the members of High Hopes Band and is the “glue” in the band’s sound. He provides the intricate sound that floats between the band's entire sound.
