A facilitator acts like a guide to help people move through a process. They guide the participants towards an exploratory journey of learning by helping them to delve into their inner self to A facilitator creates the agenda to support the meeting's goal and is then responsible for keeping the group on track and sticking to the agenda to ensure efficiency. Keep in mind that there will be times when it is necessary and appropriate to stray from the agenda if it's in the group's best interest. It leads to increased project cost, loss of credibility and lack of trust from senior management and clients. Taking a facilitative approach to project management not only helps define needs, but it also helps communicate the scope of the project across channels and help set and manage accurate expectations. 3) Get Action Plans Actually Implemented 4. Record and Action. Last but not least among the responsibilities of a facilitator is the recording of outputs, and of bringing these together, sharing them, and making sure they are actioned. The key to successful recording of outputs from an event is to be clear about what will be recorded, how and by whom. When a meeting goes well, everyone stays on the agenda, understands their roles, feels ownership, listens to others, and makes key and timely contributions. These are the 3 responsibilities of a meeting facilitator: 1. Keep the Meeting Focused: When the group or an individual starts to wander away from the agenda, rein them back in. A good facilitator will be able to help your team make decisions and develop plans for future meetings. Facilitators can also provide suggestions and ideas and make sure that conversations stay on topic. A skilled facilitator will push your team to think more creatively, open up their minds to new ideas, and function as a process guide. As you use this Facilitator's Guide to conduct the session, take note of the following symbols and their meanings. These symbols will be used throughout the guide to provide direction Note to Facilitator The purpose of this segment of the training is to identify how people learn and the role a facilitator/trainer plays in this process. In business, employers use facilitation to build teams and shape leaders. The main role of a facilitator is to add value to a group planning session or meeting by keeping a group on task and making progress, which saves the employer valuable time and money. Facilitators can also help resolve conflict and manage employee concerns. The facilitator guide sub-section provides a step-by-step breakdown of all of the key components of the activity. This includes detailed instructions on how to execute the activity in-the-moment. It may also include some options or choices that go beyond the baseline learning that is expected to occur during the execution of the strategy. The Facilitators' Guide is designed to support facilitators to organise and run a workshop for project teams. The IDEAS Guideitself is designed to cater for a range of different skill levels and familiarity with evaluation.
