The user can specify the goals and the associated weighting factors which specify to what extent the goals need to be achieved. Goal Attainment scoring Overall Goal Attainment Scores are then calculated by applying a formula: Where: w i = the weight assigned to the ith goal (if equal weights, w i = 1) (weight = importance x difficulty) x i = the numerical value achieved ( between -2 and + 2) r = the expected correlation of the goal scales (0.3) (taken from Turner Stokes) The Goals Form is a brief outcome measure that can be used to assess, and track, the extent to which counselling and psychotherapy clients attain their personal goals for therapy.
