I got this Arcan XL35R Floor Jackfrom Costco, when I bought my floormats. The price for the Arcan jack was $100, which was a great deal on a floor jack of this quality and weight capacity. (Actually we renewed our Costco membership just to get this jack, so in essence it was $150.) TheArcan Floor Jackis rated for 3.5 Tons or 7000 pounds. filexlib. True, but durability is only one attribute to consider. The ability to lower the car slowly and smoothly, # of pumps needed to lift the car, etc are also factors to consider. So far, I think this jack feels more solid than the Arcan XL35R from costco only because the pumping action feels more solid. It is very heavy but can be lowered to 3.5", enough to get under the front of my BMW. I have a couple of old Sears jacks that still work well but cannot get under cars with ground clearance less than about 7". I would stay away from the cheap Torin aluminium racing jacks.

In case anyone's still looking for a floor jack, I saw my local Costco has these Arcan XL35R floor jacks back in stock. This is the 3.5 ton model in red. I think they were listed at $89.95. (I'm in San Jose, CA.) Got that one back in December, heard great things about it. It lifts the from of my 2500HD like its nothing.
That's good news. People in the market for a floor jack should definitely check their local Costco for the Arcan XL35R or XL325R. Harbor Freight has a similar jack, but it isn't as good or as capable as the Arcan. Essentially, Costco is selling the Arcan jack for 40% less than what other retailers would charge for the same unit.
