More sharing options Where a Leslie amp has two stationary speakers, and a rotating baffle and horn, the RA-200's speakers actually rotate, giving it a different character. The Yamaha has 3 separate speakers that rotate randomly, which gives it that nice random chorusy effect, which again makes it close to impossible to emulate. The power transformer has taps so that the F-2B can be operated from 100, 120 or 240 volt lines (Mains). It is necessary to open the cabinet and solder the correct tap to the power switch to make the voltage change, however. The Line (Mains) input connector is the IEC (computer type) so the power cord is detachable. The unit is pre owned so I do not know what the factory settings were. I downloaded the book "Guide To ELF Systems" Version 1.3 and read through it. (Thank you Modular Sound Systems for keeping owners manuals on line for discontinued products). I am fortunate in that my Bag End cabinets were listed in the manual. (S18ELF & TA15 cab) I'm selling my Alembic F-2B Stereo Tube Preamp. It was built in the 1970s and has a serial number in the 900s. Alembic still builds these preamps to order and the price for a new unit today is $2,200. This unit is in very good shape for a piece of gear that's nearly 50 years old. The chassis has some dings and scratches as you would expect but Alembic reveals on their website: The SF-2 filter circuit is a resistively tuned two-pole universal active filters, which yields 12 dB/Oct ultimate slopes in the high-pass and low-pass modes, and 6 dB/Oct ultimate slopes in the band-pass mode. "resistively tuned" = with a potentiometer "two pole . filter" = stereo potentiometer The answer is, yes, no, or maybe. Here is a little history of the tube preamp circuit that is used in the Alembic F2b tube preamp and the Frog Fx1 tube preamp that may help you decide: The basic circuit that both the Frog and Alembic use was originally found in the RCA receiving tube manual. No need for manual, one branch with all knobs at noon and it sounds right now! The original model can also send the output of a channel in the entrance of the second to have a big greasy distortion. Not try at home, I mounted a canal. SOUNDS The sound is very respectful of the low, round and warm, it gives a feeling of fluidity, the "liquid". Here is a little history of the tube preamp circuit that is used in the Alembic F2b tube preamp and the Frog Fx1 tube preamp that may help you decide: The basic circuit that both the Frog and Alembic use was originally found in the RCA receiving tube manual. When Leo Fender needed a circuit for his first amplifiers (the K&F model amps) in about These basses were made in Japan in the 1980s and are top shelf high quality, made to inspired by and to be put up against Alembic Basses. This bass is in fantastic excellent condition. Neck-though bass with active electronics. The strings are strung through body. The first is a fairly true-to-the-original F2B circuit, except for two things: (1) power supply and (2) output capacitor. With the power supply I am trying to make it easy to experiment with different B+ values. The capacitor change is from a suggestion to limit some of the low end.
