Jawara McIntosh aka Tosh1 - The youngest son of Peter Tosh

I had no idea I lived so close to the son of a legend...then about 2 weeks ago, one evening while working I saw the mighty Fearnuttin Band post on IG (@fearnuttinband), that some of their members Jay Chung and Chris Regan would be doing a show with Tosh1 and the DisnDat Band about a 1/2 hour away from me in Manchester, CT. As tired as I was, I knew I had to go and see what this show was all about and meet some of the local musicians. Having recently moved from Columbus, Oh to near Hartford, CT, I longed to meet some of my local fellow soldiers in this movement of JAH people. What a night it was! Tosh1 put on an amazing show. He performed many of his fathers most well known songs with true authenticity and a voice just like his father, BUT he did not just copy his dad, he put his own twist and flavor in a few places...that's right, not only was his dad's influence apparent, but this young Tosh also has been influenced by HipHop music and he belnded the styles together so well. He also did an amazing job doing Get Up, Stand Up in his own style and also did not hold back, but brought forth some of his original music. It was amazing that such a great artist with his talent and calibur is living in New England (Boston area) and doing shows both small and large. His talent warrents that he should be playing at ALL of the major festivals and venues throught the US and the world. I wondered why he was not playing the major show circuit as there is no reason he should not be, he has the making to be a huge star. He had a good reason that was not of his choosing, like many great reggae artists, he had a been side tracked by babylon for herbs, but now he is back and tougher than tough, so be prepared for some new music, a revived tour schedule, and some powerful performances by this Stepping Razor. The next week members of @soulsofzion (IG) and I made the trod to Boston, Ma for his performance at Hempfest. Unfortunately, we missed the show being stuck in traffic less than 200 feet from the stage. He had performed with his daughters right by his side and his backing band @disndatband (IG) was on point again. Spending time with the young Tosh, I was amazed at his humility and the sense of humor he brings with the wisdom he dispenses freely, wisdom that he gleaned from his life's experiences. I must tell you all, when you see that Tosh1 will be playing near you, do not miss him. When he drops his next album, be sure to buy it, you will be happy you did. Take it from me, JDT!
