The purpose of this document is to establish standards, which will result in the preparation of consistent and compatible AutoCAD files. It is intended to guide users in the overall CAD system, operations, and to establish standards and procedures that will A/E/C Standards. The A/E/C CAD Standard and A/E/C Graphics Standard documents have been developed by the CAD/BIM Technology Center to eliminate redundant Computer-Aided Design (CAD) standardization efforts within the Department of Defense (DoD) and the Federal Government. These documents are part of an initiative to develop a nonproprietary CAD The United States National CAD Standard® (NCS) is comprised of The American Institute of Architect's CAD Layer Guidelines, the Construction Specification Institute's Uniform Drawing System (Modules 1-8), and the National Institute of Building Sciences BIM Implementation & Plotting Guidelines. The NCS coordinates these publications to allow The National CAD Standard version 6.0 has been out for a while and the powers that be are starting to request that projects are submitted in conformance to NCS 6.0. Customers asked for NCS 6.0 support. The two new NCS 6.0 AddOns for Release 7 fix that. They allow customers to preview. test, and employ the new Release 8 Layer scheme as well. NCS incorporates the efforts of the American Insti-tute of Architects (AIA) and its CAD Layer Guidelines as well as the Construction Specifications Institute (CSI) and its Uniform Drawing System. As an organization with contributing members on the NCS Committee, Management (CFM) published the VHA National CAD Standard Application Guide ("Application Guide") in May 2006 and therein adopted the United States National CAD Standard® (NCS), amending portions of the NCS for specific VA needs. At the time of the Application Guide's publishing, the NCS was in version 3.1.
