Reggae From Around The World. Catch the Vibes!
Cali Vibes Fest
took place this year at the Marina Green Park in Long Beach, California. A new location from the previous set up by Queen Mary. We got to check out Friday and Saturday's festivities.
The location and weather were the best you could hope for. No rain, cool breezes, and plenty of areas to rest. Festival goers easily navigated from stage to stage, grabbing food or merch in between sets.
When it was time for a quick recharge mid-day, many people sprawled out on the grass soaking up the sun before the evening music sets.
With so many incredible artists to see, I'm sure there were quite a few "rock - paper - scissor" sessions going on each day for some fans, because you could not see all your favorites with 3 stages throughout the festival.
A true highlight was the BoomYard Stage. Including Jesse Royal, Mr. Vegas, Marlon Asher, Yaadcore, Walshy Fire, and some new artists like Tessellated, Runkus, Blvk H3ro, Royal Blue, Naomi Cowan, Projexx, Silent Addy, and Zac Jones. There were some super nice areas to chill and have some selectors throughout the day such as DJ Delano, Jazzy T, Mysta Crooks, Blaq Pages, and DJ Gravy during the day. The stage really did transport you as if you were at Delicious Pizza in LA, catching the vibes while having some pizza and a drink. Smaller stages with a more close and personal experience to the artists is a trend that should continue with future reggae festivals.
Then an absolutely phenomenal Bob Marley 77th Birthday celebration took place Saturday night. Ziggy, Stephen, Damian, Ky-Mani & Julian Marley all performed and honored their Dad. It was great to see The Marley Brothers on stage together again, as it was reminiscent of Kaya Fest in 2018. The fans were fully immersed by the healing energy and sound of Bob Marley's music living on through his sons.
